Job Description

The Dance Instructor of the JCC School of Dance will contribute to the vision, mission and values of the JCC by instructing classes for the growth and well-being of JCC members and community participants. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

• educate students on current and up-to-date best dance practices that teach correct technique, alignment, warm-up and cool-down exercises that help to prevent injury
• create choreography or dance routines
• Teaching ages 3-12
• develop lesson plans that are age appropriate based on student level and experience
• gradually increase skill level dependent on the experience of their students
• ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
• explain and demonstrate techniques and methods of regulating movements of body to musical and/or rhythmic accompaniment
• display at all times a professional and enthusiastic attitude

The ideal candidate has two+ years of teaching experience. Dance Certification or dance degree a plus. High level to training and background in tumbling and acrobats. Needs to be self-motivated, organized, patient, a good communicator.

Positions available at both locations (Amherst & Buffalo).

This position is for our Fall Program beginning in October through the Spring.
