Role and Team The Mechanical Shop Manager reports to the General Manager and must operate the mechanical services shop in accordance to corporate guidelines to ensure maximum production volume in the most profitable way possible. Direct the work of the mechanical services shop in an efficient and productive manner, completing necessary repairs prior to scheduled sale. Perform all duties assigned by the General Manager. Responsibilities and Duties: Provide prompt and courteous service: both on the phone and in person. Demonstrate friendliness and proper phone etiquette with every customer. Maintain a professional appearance and a neat work environment consistent with the Handbook. Ensure customers receive prompt, efficient, and courteous attention from all employees. Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner and advise the General Manager of serious complaints. Coordinate recruiting and hiring procedures for mechanical services shop staff with Human Resources. Develop and train all employees within the Department by company standards and guidelines. Prepare and conduct performance appraisals for all direct reports. Ensure the mechanical services shop is properly staffed at all times. Attend a Profit and Loss Statement review each accounting period with the Controller. Manage controllable expenses affecting profitability of the mechanical services shop. Monitor inventory levels and work with other managers to ensure maximum turnover of inventory. Monitor compliance with all contractual agreements in conjunction with the Accounting Department. Monitor and control all facility conditions, vehicles, and equipment under mechanical services shop direction. Assure good operating condition of all equipment. Inform the General Manager of all breakdowns and maintenance immediately. Ensure all mechanical services shop area conditions do not threaten employee or customer safety. Qualifications Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. One (1) to three (3) years management experience required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Must have the ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
