POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a smart and motivated law clerk to support our legal and risk loss team in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing correspondence and contracts under the guidance of Morrow's general counsel; review and analysis of controlled insurance program documents, insurance renewals and certificates of insurance; assessing customer and subcontractor compliance with Morrow’s insurance and risk management program; and assisting with the coordination of other legal and administrative matters with our internal and external partners. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work efficiently and independently and be able to manage high volumes of tasks and projects with guidance from the General Counsel as needed. We are looking for a candidate who pays great attention to detail, has great organization skills, and can switch gears as needed. Further, the successful candidate will have a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information, as well as the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside the company. The successful candidate will work out of our corporate office in Salem, Oregon.

Requirements:

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Document management
  • Support Morrow General Counsel with contract management and organization
  • Legal research on various risk, insurance, licensing and other subjects
  • Request and review certificates of insurance and insurance program enrollment in accordance with Morrow’s insurance and risk program
  • Provide backup support for various functions within the legal department and executive management

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Current law school student in good standing with ability to take and pass bar exam and become a licensed attorney in the State of Oregon after graduation.

Preferred but not required:

  • Previous experience working in a construction and insurance risk management setting
  • Previous experience with the construction industry
  • Previous experience with insurance (including general liability insurance, workers’ comp, and commercial auto, among others)
  • CRIS certification
  • Working knowledge of claims and insurance coverage
  • Working knowledge of standard CGL endorsements and standard ISO forms
  • Working knowledge of contractual insurance and indemnity provisions
