JOB SUMMARY
The Curriculum PD NES Vetter/PD 1 is pivotal in propelling Houston ISD's educational objectives forward, in alignment with Destination 2035 and Quality Instruction expectations. The primary focus is developing Houston ISD NES (New Education System) curriculum, with a specific emphasis on writing, revising, and refining, to ensure alignment. This role also serves as a liaison between multiple stakeholders to effectively create and deliver standards-based, high-quality professional development sessions aligned to the NES Curriculum.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* NES Curriculum Development: Design and create curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD's educational objectives.
* TEKS Alignment and Rigor: Write and revise curriculum to ensure compliance with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards while maintaining a high level of academic rigor and depth of learning.
* Curriculum Vetting: Regularly vett, review and revise existing curriculum to align to state standards and district expectations.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
* Curriculum Evaluation: Evaluate curriculum through a sensitivity lens to ensure grade-level appropriateness and cultural relevance.
* Facilitation of Brain Trusts: Lead collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies.
* TEKS-Driven Professional Development: Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on internalizing state standards and alignment to NES model for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s).
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
