Principal Data Modeling Architect
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeling Architect to design and oversee the implementation of enterprise-wide data architecture solutions, with a primary focus on enterprise application data models. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions while ensuring data consistency, integration, and scalability across the organization's application ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead data architecture reviews and provide technical oversight for major projects
- Develop data modeling standards, best practices, and governance frameworks for enterprise applications
- Guide development teams in implementing data models and ensuring adherence to architectural standards
- Evaluate and recommend data management tools and technologies that support enterprise application integration
- Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise-wide data models, with particular emphasis on creating unified data models that support multiple business applications and domains
- Design and implement data integration patterns between enterprise applications, ensuring seamless data flow and maintaining data consistency
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of data architectures, including entity-relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, and data lineage mappings
- Partner with enterprise architects and solution architects to align data architecture with overall enterprise architecture strategy
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable architectural solutions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 10 + years of experience in data architecture, with at least 5 years focused on enterprise application data modeling
- Extensive experience with enterprise data modeling tools and methodologies
- Deep understanding of data integration patterns and enterprise application architecture
- Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data models that span multiple business domains
- Strong knowledge of data governance principles and data quality management
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL, with specific expertise in PostgreSQL database design and optimization
- Proven experience in NoSQL database modeling and implementation (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, or similar)
- Advanced expertise in data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, ERwin)
- Proficiency in enterprise application integration patterns and technologies
- Strong experience in PostgreSQL-specific features including partitioning, inheritance, and custom types
- Expertise in NoSQL data modeling patterns (document, key-value, wide-column, graph)
- Experience with master data management (MDM) solutions
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with data governance tools and metadata management platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in related field
- Industry certifications (e.g., CDMP, TOGAF)
- Experience with data lake architecture
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with graph databases and semantic data modeling
