Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the Underwriting Department, helping ensure smooth operations and compliance with state guidelines. You'll be the bridge between our department and the agents/policyholders, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring that our clients' needs are met efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service Excellence: Provide prompt and friendly responses to agents and policyholders regarding quotes, endorsements, and renewals. Your role is pivotal in maintaining strong relationships with our clients.

Underwriting Support: Assist in processing new business policies, endorsements, and renewals. You will also order and organize reports needed for the underwriting process, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.

Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure all tasks align with state-mandated handling guidelines, helping us meet regulatory requirements.

Learning & Development: Develop a basic understanding of insurance coverages, exposures, rating plans, and state requirements. This knowledge will be essential as you grow in the role.

Special Projects: Participate in special projects as assigned by the Underwriting team, contributing to the overall success of the department.

Administrative Tasks: Prepare and mail system outputs, complete financial responsibility filings, and provide general administrative support to the Underwriting Unit.

Qualifications:

Required:

Previous experience in customer service, with a passion for helping others.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to pass state-required exams to become a licensed Property and Casualty Agent.
Proficient in typing and data entry (minimum 30 wpm).
Preferred:

College degree or relevant industry experience.
Property and Casualty Agency license.
Experience using an online underwriting system.
