About VantageRock

VantageRock Capital is the hedge fund strategy within the Rockefellers Asset Management business. VantageRock Capital is a fundamental-based, U.S. focused, multi-sector long/short equity hedge fund strategy. It typically runs with low net exposure and is focused on investing in stocks that it believes have asymmetric risk/reward and strong alpha generation. VantageRock is led by Avery Sheffield, and she and her team are focused on generating alpha and delivering compelling performance.

Position

VantageRock is seeking an Equity Analyst to join their growing team. We are looking for a candidate who has a deep curiosity about the world and a strong passion for investing. Previous investing experience is preferred, but candidates with limited formal investment experience, but a very strong demonstrated desire to become a great investor will also be considered. The Equity Analyst will work directly with co-founders Avery Sheffield and Dan Rosenthal as well as their team of Equity Analysts.

Candidates should submit a resume as well as a cover letter. The cover letter should briefly describe your background, why you are applying for the position, and why you believe have the skill set to be successful in the position. If you have an area of expertise and/or particular knowledge of or experience in a particular sector, please include that as well, though this is not necessary. Candidates who do not submit a cover letter will not be considered.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth fundamental research on companies and industries
• Interact with company management teams and industry experts
• Attend conferences/conference calls and analyst meetings for the purpose of better understanding the companies and industries that you follow
• Conduct financial modeling and valuation analysis, write up investment theses and discuss findings with colleagues
• Generate high conviction conclusions and make investment recommendations to the Portfolio Manager and the team
• Connect regularly with VantageRock co-founders as well as other colleagues in a collaborative manner

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree required
• We will consider candidates with experience at hedge funds, equity research (buy-side or sell-side), private equity, investment banking, management consulting as well as recent graduates and candidates without formal investment backgrounds that have a passion for investing, demonstrated investment judgement and investment analysis skills that could have been developed outside of your formal work experience.

Compensation Range:

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000. Base salary for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidates qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
