Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our busy hand Surgeon and his Physician Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and a strong desire to contribute to the well-being of others. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic medical environment. Specialist office experience is preferred. The candidate must be reliable, professional, able to multitask and have good attention to detail. Must work well individually, and as a team. Candidate must pass a drug screen and background check prior to starting.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour and based on experience. This position does require travel to our satellite office, once per week (12 miles away). We do offer mileage and partial cell phone reimbursement.

Medical Assistant responsibilities: Ensuring patient charts are up to date. Prepping the patient for office visit, x-ray etc. Answering and returning patient phone calls, faxes, emails, out of work paperwork etc. Maintain patient records and update electronic medical records. Obtain necessary pre-operative authorizations and medical clearances. Communicate with patients regarding surgery preparation instructions and post- operative care.

Requirements:
- Proficient in medical terminology and knowledge of surgical procedures
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide exceptional patient care and support
- Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred
- Experience in medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Previous experience working in a surgical office setting is preferred

Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures
- Administer medications under the direction of a physician
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Coordinate patient appointments and follow-ups
- Provide support in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Utilize knowledge of basic life support techniques
- Handle X-ray procedures and results
- Code medical procedures accurately
- Assist in specialized areas such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and internal medicine

Experience
Required:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
- Experience in medication administration

- Experience with EMR systems: 1 year (Required)

- Completion of a Medical Assistant program

MEDICAL ASSISTANT WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typical clinical office and exam/procedure room environment.
  • Frequent standing, typing, and reading and entering patient information
  • Ability to file and track documents and data, both in written and electronic form
  • Able to frequently stoop, lift carry and push/pull 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds
  • Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • On occasion, some early, late and overtime hours may be required.
