The Catholic Charities' Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program provides services to anyone faced with these issues through a 24-hour crisis phone line, emergency shelter, court advocacy and much more. This program is based in Council Bluffs, Iowa and serves nine counties in southwest Iowa: Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby. Our on-site emergency shelter provides a safe, confidential living for up to eight families at a time.
The Sexual Assault Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the services and programs related to sexual assault prevention, response, and education in a nine county service area. This role involves providing direct support to survivors, managing advocacy and outreach efforts, and collaborating with community partners to enhance support systems and resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Survivor Support and Advocacy: - Provide immediate and ongoing support and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault, including crisis intervention, emotional support, and accompaniment to medical, legal, and judicial appointments.
- Develop and implement individualized safety plans and provide referrals to appropriate services and resources.
Program Management: - Coordinate and oversee the delivery of sexual assault prevention and education programs.
- Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to meet the needs of survivors and the community.
- Supervises staff according to organizational policies and laws, including training, planning, directing work, evaluating performance, disciplining employees, and resolving issues.
- Oversees volunteer initiatives across nine rural counties. Collaborates with the Volunteer Coordinator and Sexual Assault Advocates to attract, train, and maintain volunteers.
Community Outreach and Education: - Conduct outreach to raise awareness about sexual assault and available services.
- Develop and deliver training and educational presentations to various audiences, including schools, community organizations, and professionals.
- Foster and maintain relationships with community partners, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
- Organize participation in community events.
Data Collection and Reporting: - Collect and maintain accurate data on service delivery, program outcomes, and client demographics.
- Prepare and submit required reports to funders, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Utilize data to identify trends, gaps in services, and areas for improvement.
Grant Management and Fundraising: - Assist in the development of grant proposals and funding applications.
- Manage grant budgets and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Identify and pursue additional funding opportunities to support program growth and sustainability.
- Assists in developing annual budget plan.
Professional Development: - Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in sexual assault prevention and response.
- Participate in relevant training, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in sexual assault advocacy, crisis intervention, or a related field.
- Experience in managing and leading teams.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with database management and data entry. Ability to use email and navigate the internet effectively.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience in program management, including grant funding administration preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
